Arkansas Grocery Store Leaves 3 Dead and Several Others Injured - Police on High Alert!

 A shooter who opened fire Friday at a grocery store in Arkansas left the store and parked a car riddled with bullet holes as bystanders ducked for cover both indoors and in the parking lot.

killing 3 people and wounding 10 others, authorities said. The injured included two law enforcement officers who exchanged gunfire with the shooter, state police said. The shooting happened about 11:30 a.m. at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, a town of about 3,200 people located 65 miles (104 kilometers) south of Little Rock.

“This is tragic, our hearts are broken,” Col. Mike Hagar, State Police director and public safety secretary, told reporters on Friday.

Neither the injuries suffered by the officer nor the suspected shooter were life-threatening. 

The remaining injuries range from “not life-threatening to very critical,” Hagar said.This is the latest mass shooting with a grocery store in the background. A white supremacist in 2022 killed 10 black people in a Buffalo supermarket. 

The shooting came a year after a shooting at a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket that killed 10 people.Police did not immediately say whether the shooting occurred inside or outside the store. 

Police did not identify the suspected shooter or his victims, but said they expected to release more information later Friday.

Roderick Rogers, a city councilman, said he called the county sheriff when employees at a nearby restaurant told him about the shooting.

Rogers said when he got there, he saw people running for cover in all directions, some even running to a nearby hospital.

“People were jumping into cars to seek safety,” Rogers said.

Video posted on social media showed at least one person lying in the parking lot, while others captured the sound of several gunshots.

Amiya Doherty said she was in her mother's car in the grocery store parking lot when she heard what she thought were fireworks. 

When he saw a man holding a gun and shooting, he said the man ducked out of sight.“I held my sister's hand and I told her I loved her,” Doherty told the television station.

Images from reporters at the scene showed numerous bullet holes in the grocery store windows. 

and shell casings strewn throughout the parking lot. In video footage, local and state agencies are seen responding to the scene, with at least one medical helicopter landing nearby.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she had been briefed on the shooting.

“I thank law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic actions in saving lives,” Sanders wrote on the social media platform X. “My prayers are with the victims and everyone affected by this.”

The White House said President Joe Biden had briefed him on the shooting and his team would continue to provide him with updates.

David Rodriguez, 58, was stopping at a local gas station in Fordyce to fill up his car when he heard what he thought were fireworks from a nearby vendor stand.

“We heard some small pops,” he said.
